YouTube has become a way for creative young people to make money without the requirement for any special skill other than a passion and dedication to something that holds an interest for an equally dedicated and passionate audience.
We will be looking at the top 10 richest YouTubers in 2017. Given that 2016 is still quite new, most of these YouTubers will be the highest earning ones from last year. Without further ado, here they are in order of their earnings beginning from the lowest.

10. Rosanna Pansino
This list is a top ten list but Rosanna is actually tied with two other YouTubers. Rosanna is a self trained chef whose tutorials have had many of her followers feeling more confident in their abilities. Her YouTube channel and show, Nerdy Nummies showcases her specialty which is baking with geeky themes. She even has a book in the works. She comes in at reported earnings of $2.5 million per year.
9. Roman Atwood
Tied with Rosanna, Roman is a prankster with a twist. He is very creative with his pranks which are done almost always in public. He has become quite popular with his over 8 million followers. Even automobile company Nissan has taken notice and they partnered with him in a marketing gig earlier this year. He also comes into the list at earnings of $2.5 million per year.
8. Lilly Singh
Lilly is a stand-up comedian who has garnered a following of almost 8 million subscribers to her YouTube channel where she is more popularly known as Superwoman. Lilly is multi-talented and her YouTube videos always offers something new in her repertoire of talent. She also comes in at reported earnings of $2.5 million per year.
7. Michelle Phan
With a following of about 8.3 million people, she is definitely doing something right. Michelle is a 28 year old self taught makeup artist who teaches other people how to imitate their favorite celebrities’ looks. Her channel has almost 400 videos and over a billion views. She is number 7 on this list with earnings of $3 million per year.
6. Olajide Olatunji
Better known as KSI, the UK based Olajide is a video game reviewer who reviews new games he plays, most especially the FIFA series. He has other aspirations as a musician and has exploited the fame from his popular YouTube following (almost 12 million) to launch his musical career with a song titled “Lamborghini.” He is tied with another YouTuber with earnings of $4.5 million.
5. Rhett McLaughlin and Charles Lincoln Neal III
This famous duo are both engineers by training but comedians by heart. Their YouTube show “Good Mythical Morning” is widely popular and holds the interest of about 9.5 million subscribers. They are always up to doing things you’ve always thought of doing but are too scared or lack the resources. They are tied with Olajide from earlier with earnings of $4.5 million.
4. Lindsey Stirling
The violin is probably the most difficult instrument to play. Dancing is no mean feat either. For Lindsay to combine the two so effortlessly is almost miraculous and this is the reason she has a following of almost 8 million subscribers. She promotes her awesome performances and music through this medium and now has earnings of $6 million.
3. Benny Fine and Rafi Fine
The Fine brothers started their walk to fame by filming the reactions of people to other sensational videos. It turns out that peoples’ reactions are almost as fun to watch as the things that cause the reactions in the first place. They have a following of almost 14 million subscribers and their combined earnings of $8.5 million makes them the joint 2nd in this list.
2. Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla
They are known online as Smosh and their comedic skits which came into prominence when they started with Pokemon skits have garnered a faithful following of a whooping 21.7 million subscribers. Their combined earnings of $8.5 tied them in at 2nd place on this list.
1. Felix Kjellberg
His YouTube channel PewDiePie, is a scare fest as he reviews horror and action video games and even takes things to another level by reenacting the horror and adrenaline pumping situations to the delight of his over 42 million subscribers. He has earnings of $12 million per year which makes him the top earning YouTuber of 2016 and probably of all time so far.
YouTube has become a real money making machine for talented people from all over the world and this list is sure to be an ever changing one for years to come.
