Top 10 Most Famous Athletes in 2017

Last year there were a lot of highs and lows for several athletes. As they continue to move forward into 2016, here are the top 10 Most Famous Athletes in 2017 (for good or bad reasons).

10. Ronda Rousey

10. Ronda Rousey

Tough MMA fighter Ronda Rousey was slated to beat Holly Holm within her famous twenty to thirty seconds in the ring. However, Holly outsmarted Rousey, who entered the ring with a chip on her shoulder and a very bad attitude. She basically got her butt kicked and Holm was very humble about the fight while Rousey was whisked off to the hospital. Rousey got knocked down a few levels and hopefully her cockiness knife is a little more dull after the infamous debacle. Go Holly!

9. Eric Berry of the Kansas City Chiefs

After being treated for Leukemia last year, Berry made a complete recovery and played all year for the Chiefs. His comeback inspired many people around the world. His toughness, his bravery, and the support he received from his family, friends and fellow players touched the hearts of many. Here’s wishing him all the best in the future.

8. Salvador Perez of the Kansas City Royals

Watching the Royals win the World Series this year was the stuff dreams are made of. And humble, sweet and completely human Perez won the Most Valuable Player nod. This catcher is proof that much of winning depends on a positive attitude and loving what you do. Everyone loves Perez.

7. Peyton Manning, Quarterback of the Denver Broncos

7. Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning has made it to another (and probably his last) Super Bowl. He obviously struggled this year with the Denver Broncos but he made it through his struggles (with big help from his Defense). Breaking the record for all time passing in a quarterback’s career, Peyton was benched the same game. Now he’s back to win against Carolina and get his shot at the beautiful big ring one more time.

6. TJ Brodie, Defenseman for the Calgary Flames

6. TJ Brodie

A farm kid from small town Ontario, Canada, Brodie was drafted in the 4th round. A quiet, understated kid, he missed the first 9 games of the season due to a hand injury. Now that he’s back, he’s being touted as one of the best defensemen, if not THE best defensemen in the NHL due to his mobility and hockey smarts. Way to go Brodie- you’ll be beside the Norris Trophy in no time!

5. Lebron James, Miami Heat

5. Lebron James

Lebron’s antics while deciding where he’s going to play basketball have been questioned by millions. His attitude and ego make him one of the most hated basketball players by fans and fellow ballers in the NBA. His talent though, makes him a top pick for top player of all time- that we cannot deny.

4. Abby Wambach

Abby could be one of the best soccer players of all time. One of the most lethal and top scorers on time, Wambach will be a legend that never dies.

3. Conor McGregor

3. Conor McGregor

With the downfall of Ronda Rousey, the MMA world was buzzing. Then a basic nobody came onto the scene in the men’s MMA world- and had the audacity to take the Champ’s belt and say it was his. Where did this guy come from?? Needless to say, it took about 13 seconds for McGregor to ‘put his money where he mouth was’ and he won against the current featherweight MMA Champ, Jose Aldo, in about 13 seconds. Very impressive Mr. McGregor. We like cocky- but only when you can back your strut!

2. Bruce/Caitlin Jenner

The once ‘strongest man in the world’ has certainly made some drastic changes. Decathlon Olympic winner and dad to many, Bruce has come out to tell the world that all this time, he’s really been a woman trapped in a man’s body. Fame is his (her’s) again, as she continues to star in garbage reality television shows. Athlete turned celebrity, man turned woman- it’s news- and she’s got all kinds of headlines.

1. Cam Newton, Quarterback of the Carolina Panthers

1. Cam Newton

Cam Newton is facing the well respected legend, Peyton Manning, in Super Bowl 50. There are all sorts of weird things going on in the upcoming big game. The two quarterbacks have the largest age difference between two quarterbacks who’ve ever faced one another in the Super Bowl. Aside from all of that- what a year Cam Newton has had! This highly cocky QB hasn’t an ounce of humble in his body, but he’s also a big goof, kind to kiddies on the sidelines, and he’s- in a word- a serious looker. While women swoon and men cheer for his outstanding athletic ability, Cam is setting himself up to be a legendary quarterback- and the whole world knows it’s true. Cam is THE one to watch in the NFL- his talent is beyond amazing.
